Video 1 Month, 1 Week ago
Hi,
We're a 3d Animation studio in Australia that is using concept share as a delivery platform for approvals and viewing to clients.
We have how ever run into many instances where the videos we're uploading are not playing back properly.

Sometimes they are too slow, sometimes too fast. Sometimes scaling the videos effects the speed they play back, and sometimes they just plain play in a choppy fashion.

Granted, some computers trying to view a video once it's downloaded may have a problem because the CPU is too slow etc
But that aside, my question really is based off the machines fast enough to deal with this and still have problems....

Since we use video more than jpg/tiff etc on concept share,
-what is your base preferred video codec for upload to concept share?
-Also since we're PAL and run at 25frames per second, does concept shares importer stay true to the fps in a video or is it converting it globally to an ntsc format? Or is that not an issue at all ?
-is there a preferred video resolution for concept share video? 4:3 format or 16:9 nothing larger than 320x180 ? etc

Bascially I'm digging for what is considered conceptshares perfect set of standards for uploading to and playback on concept share so we can set that as a base standard when compressing and uploading videos to minimize the issues clients / operators are having.

Oh and also the downloads of a concept from concept share to a local drive in the movie format etc just plain don't appear to be working unless we're doing something wrong ....

Thanks for you time, and great looking product so far !

Hi Macky,

There really isn't a preferred format/setting for video files to be uploaded to ConceptShare. Also the framerate is not manipulated in any way. So am confused as to what could be happening.

If you would email support at conceptshare a file which you have noticed these types of problems with the settings in which you selected upon upload we can certainly look into it and see if it can be corrected.

Video files are converted to flash flv files so they can be played within ConceptShare. This is the file that is returned to the client when they choose to download the concept. A few users have requested having the original file saved as well as added as a concept (it adds to the overall storage), this may be what you want as well. Let me know if this is something you would like to see implemented (additional storage vs. easy of us for your clients).

I look forward to hearing more from you on this.
