Today, we are pleased to announce that our Fall ’11 Release is available. We’ve added more features and format support to make it easier to share, communicate and collaborate on your creative work. This release has something for everyone that contributes to the creative process. From designers looking for quick feedback to project managers looking to get their projects done on time to clients who live in their inbox and want to provide feedback on creative work from email and even a handful of new features to please the IT teams of our enterprise customers.
Based on feedback from beta testers we think (and hope) that you’ll love what the new release has to offer. After all it was your input that helped determine what we included in this release. As you read about some of the exciting new features you’ll also notice we’ve given a shout out in appreciation of customers who spent the time to help shape this release.
For this release, we focused on enhancing our support for popular file formats. We’ve made easier to work with and enhanced the experience for collaborating on documents, images, video and Adobe Flash.
For Microsoft Office and PDF documents we’ve created a new module, called Advanced Copy Review. It provides review features similar to what you’d find in desktop tools like Adobe Acrobat. You can search for, select, highlight text, and annotate using text specific proofing tools. This new ability also means there will be a lot more feedback on individual pages so we’ve added a way to easily navigate through comments using comment tabs and pins.

We also had a number of requests to improve how we handle Interactive Flash. We’ve listened, and with this release, you can now interactively review and comment on Adobe Flash assets like games, eLearning and digital ads. We added an innovative Flash breadcrumb feature so you can easily capture a sequence of actions on screen, mark them up and make comments.

Customers who have been using older versions of ConceptShare made it clear they were missing a couple of tools, specifically, Ruler and Eyedropper. We added them back, but of course we updated them. Check them out and let us know what you think.

One of my favorite features of this release is the ability to reply to comments via email. There are times when I don’t need to be back in ConceptShare to respond to a comment and it’s a whole lot easier now because I can just write an email from my phone/laptop and it’s there. Along the same lines of “Do more from your Inbox”, is a new feature where you can email assets to a Workspace. A vCard is available from a Workspace invite or the Workspace Menu. You can add the vCard to your contact list to make it convenient to email work to ConceptShare. All attachments in the email are added to the Workspace.

Over the last couple of months we’ve spent a good amount of time speaking with partners and enterprise customers about ways to integrate ConceptShare into existing systems and processes. Most of them use an FTP sight and/or a network share somewhere along the way to support their creative workflow. In fact, most of our customers use FTP or network shares in their day-to-day work. Since it’s a common process, we thought we could take advantage of it to make it easier to get assets into ConceptShare for review, without causing to much disruption with the way people work. ConceptShare can now monitor FTP sites and network file shares. You can configure ConceptShare to upload new files to a Workspace when they arrive in a monitored folder.
